Pat Quinn signs the bill into law on Nov. 20, Illinois will become the 15th state to allow same-sex marriages.

Reeling 31: LGBT Film Festival Opening Night

Reeling, the second-oldest LGBT film festival in the world, returned with another slate of movies that showcase not only diversity within the queer community but also diversity in the range of possibilities within film itself. The festival started with the sweet and sassy opening night comedy G.B.F. and followed with an all-laughs after-event at the Laugh Factory in Chicago.

Equal marriage celebration at Sidetrack

The excitement over passage of Senate Bill 10 quickly spread in Chicago's Boystown neighborhood, where Sidetrack hosted a community celebration on Tuesday night. Nearly 300 people packed the popular bar, which is co-owned by long-time gay rights activist Art Johnston. Mayor Rahm Emanuel, a strong advocate of marriage equality, was also on hand for the celebration.
