Brian Bonds busts into the Windy City over Memorial Day Weekend
Adult entertainer Brian Bonds has worked in the world of porn for almost 15 years and shows no sign of stopping. The man from Bryant, Arkansas, originally began his career as a performer, but has now expanded his brand to photography and directing.
He’s a 2024 Grabby Hall of Fame honoree and ICCA lifetime achievement award recipient. The Grabby Awards are sponsored by Grab Magazine to celebrate erotic content and are held annually in Chicago over Memorial Day Weekend.
Bonds is continuing his legacy with an upcoming Fetish Force video in the future and swinging into the sling for more Fisting Inferno videos.
Bonds travelled to the Windy City from his home in Palm Springs to explore the International Mr. Leather festivities and catch up with his Grabby buddies. He sat down at his hotel on May 24 to confess his sins to the Nunn!
JN: (Jerry Nunn) Begin with your pronouns and identity.
BB: (Brian Bonds) He/him and pan for pay.
JN: You should trademark pansexual for pay.
BB: It came up when everyone was talking about gay for pay and I’m like, “For the right amount of money I will fuck anything!”
JN: How is living in the heat in Palm Springs?
BB: I was acclimated to living in the desert because I was in Vegas for eight years before that.
JN: Where does your stage name come from?
BB: It was one of those things that just flowed right off the tongue. When I was choosing it, someone suggested that I pick something all-American.
JN: Does having a different name help you separate yourself from the business?
BB: Yes, it does help. I am known as Brian, but being called Derek is okay too. It just depends on whether I am working or not.
JN: How long have you been in the biz?
BB: This is my 14th year.
JN: How has the industry changed over the years?
BB: There have been many ups and downs. OnlyFans has completely changed the way studios work now. Everyone used to want to work for a studio and now many people just make their own money on OnlyFans.
Studios have had to adjust to this and try to make profits. Now a lot of us are starting to do like content sharing with the models.
Back in 2016 the industry started moving towards bareback content and the advancements in medicine have allowed everybody to go further with that. We have DoxyPep now and Pep.
JN: I have worked in HIV for the past three years and found out how the community in California has really embraced DoxyPep. It still has a ways to go with marketing.
BB: People need to learn about it especially if they are a sex worker. They should teach people about HIV in grade school.
JN: The language has changed as well such as calling it a sexually transmitted infection instead of a disease or using “clean” when describing someone on a hookup app.
BB: Some people still use DDF for drug and disease free. I try not to be on the apps anyway.
JN: You are open to talking about being HIV positive?
BB: Yes. I became positive in 2014. Going from negative to positive had a huge impact on me and on my career.
When the industry started going bareback I was one of Raging Stallions exclusives. At the time they would either put positive status performers together or only use performers with a negative status.
I wanted to part of the changed but I couldn’t do anything about the situation back then. The industry has evolved to the point where it needs to be now. I still wish the straight side would implement what the gay side does.
For a while I really wanted to push myself to be one of the first openly positive crossover performers, but it was too hard to even find any studio or even any girls to be able to work with for content. That’s on a pause right now because I lost most of my interest in it after so many years. I now prefer to focus on other things, including my triumphs.
JN: How are your directing projects going?
BB: It's a lot of work, especially on the pre-production side and I am still trying to get my sea legs on. I just directed a fisting video for Raging Stallion so I'm in a niche little bubble. I am always looking for models to come work with us.
The thing is that it’s fun because I am a very hands-on director. After all of my years of gripping, I will go in, build my own set and light it all. I put everything I am and everything I can think of into that particular project.
I hope everything I put out is being well received and when the public sees it, they are turned on. I don't like to go too long on a story. I like a simple, little build-up, then just jump right into it.
There's my movie Daddy AF, which I just did and stars Roman Mercury. He was playing a photographer and did a little puppy play shoot. There’s a little build-up in the plot and then they go inside and get right to business. I like to do things that are relatable while being quick and easy to shoot.
I understand the audience doesn't want to see a big, long story. They will skip through it anyway.
JN: Does working with a variety of performers keep it fresh?
BB: Yes and I am finding out more people like being fisted than I thought.
JN: Some people are the closet about fisting?
BB: Yes!
JN: Someone told me there are different rings inside that are pleasurable.
BB: I have never been a depth person, but I know of at least one g-spot there.
JN: Are you exclusive with one studio currently?
BB: No. Most of my work is with Falcon and Raging Stallion. It almost feels like I am exclusive, but I am not. I am freelance and any studio may hire me.
I try to keep myself open for Falcon and Raging because they are my main clients.
JN: Do you have a website for studios to find you?
BB: I don't have a website, but I do try to post my photography on my social media to get it out there. I just recently had a Best Photographer nomination for the ICCA.
JN: Congrats!
BB: Thank you. I was in a category with Mike Ruiz and Mark Henderson, which I could not believe.
JN: Kent Taylor made several photography books.
BB: I would like to write a book. I am a huge fan of black and white photography. It can be very dramatic.
I could focus on black and white as well as men’s boudoir and fetish.
JN: Do you have other projects on the horizon?
BB: I have a new fisting shoot coming up.
I have a Fornication Party coming up, which is a big sex party in July.
JN: What brought you to IML?
BB: I have been coming here since 2011. I love coming here because not only is it a big fetish weekend, but I love the Grabby’s. People come here to network and build content. It’s always a big family reunion, especially when you've been in the industry as long as I have. I like to see all the new faces and who is still here working.
JN: Do you have any limits on set?
BB: I am not into blood play or scat. Everything else depends on my mood!
JN: Do you ever watch yourself onscreen?
BB: No. I don’t enjoy watching myself onscreen unless it’s my video with Champ Robinson or a Raw Fuck Club video. One day, I should watch all of the award-winning videos in a row and critique how I did!
