The city of Lexington, Kentucky is off the beaten path, but definitely worth the trip. It's known for being the horse capitol of the world and there are plenty of opportunities to see them in person with the Kentucky Horse Park and the The Thoroughbred Center nearby.

Visitors can stay at the Hilton Lexington Downtown in a good, centralized spot at 369 W. Vine St. The area has become busy with conventions and the Lexington Convention Center is available from the hotel via a skywalk if the need arises.

There are a variety of attractions to see such as the Mary Todd Lincoln House, which is the childhood home of the wife of the 16th President, Abraham Lincoln. This fourteen room house contains furniture and memorabilia from the past to check out.

Fly over to The Aviation Museum of Kentucky to see both military and civilian airplanes, a library and even a repair shop. Aviation enthusiasts will be in heaven with all of these unforgettable aircrafts.

There are plenty of dining options and Dudley's has top notch service in an upscale atmosphere. Set in the 1889 Northern Bank Building, Exectuive Chef Mark Richardson offers a delicious Da Burger with double the meat and a secret sauce!

Located in the 21C Museum Hotel, Lockbox is modern and hip. Try the southern cuisine offered such as the smoked grits and fill up your tank.

For more casual food fare, trek over to the Distillery District on the banks of Town Branch Creek. This impressive area is full of restaurants, bars and distilleries. Find a map and information at LexingtonDistilleryDistrict.com.
