Hi everyone! We're Michelle and Steven. We're new columnists here and we thought that before we jumped into a column we should tell the story of how we came to be...both versions of it. I'll go first...
I first saw Steven a little over 3 years ago. He stood out like a bright star...or maybe it was his long red hair that did. From that moment on I was paying attention and always caught glimpses of him here and there when I was out and about...but still no communication. One day the opportunity to strike up a conversation presented itself and I yelled at him very loudly. Lord knows he won't let me forget it...you'll see. After that, we talked regularly and decided we should take our friendship on the road and hang out outside of the bar. Weird.
We decided that since we were both fans of the Thursday TV lineup we should make manicotti while watching the tube and then go out and dance. We never had the manicotti...but we did have a lot of fun. And for well over a year now we've been having TV night. Our lives are demanding and hectic and it always seems like we're being pulled in different directions but Thursdays are our time to reconnect and let our hair down. Sometimes I'm not quite sure what would become of us if we didn't have that day. Some therapist would be a little richer no doubt.
We've had some wild adventures in this state and others and laughed as if it were going to go out style. But Steven is always the light at the end of my tunnel and the person who fills me in on the fuzzy parts of a good night out (I assure you I return that favor). Friendship like this doesn't come along very often...but it's the promise of homemade manicotti that keeps me coming back.
Steven's version...
So, when Jesus was an infant, I was frequenting my favorite nightspot with whatever prophets would join. I would dance around and act a fool just like the other sinners. There were always the usual name exchanges and putting faces with places. Michelle became one of those places...errr..faces. At first I didn't know what to think. She bold faced holla'd at me when I lightly tapped her on the arm in recognition of her presence...so I politely stopped.
I found that over time there were less prophets and Michelle became my saint. Then we were ready to consummate the friendship by *GASP*...seeing each other in the daylight.
Since then we've been through a wonderful exploration of each other's lives, souls, sounds, fouls and frowns. We've tapped into our signing skills 'G', 'That's hot!', broken eyes, wig wars and tattoo scars. Catch phrases, drinking hazes and stolen cars. Thick and thin, now Michelle the saint, is my twin. We remember and forget, but always, always dance with a grin.
End Scene.

We would like to say 'hello' and 'thank you' to the following... Matthew and Steve for giving us this wonderful opportunity to share a bit of ourselves with the world. Dave, for everything your are and mean to us...there are no words but you know. Glynis, Douglas and Silvia, best family a girl could ask for. Steven's family in Iowa (too many to mention)..thanks for always giving so much love and support! John Russel, for being one of the reasons why Thursdays are so much fun. Xander, you may not be a part of our Thursdays anymore...but thanks for being there for so many of them. And there are many others we would like to say 'hi' to but we promise to get to you soon enough.
