Jerry Nunn catches up with the lesbian power-duo that makes up Uh Huh Her

Uh Huh Her, an indie power pop band who's name came from an album by PJ Harvey, is made up of Camila Gray and Leisha Halley.

A former member of the group Mellowdrone, Camila has played played with such artisits as Dr. Dre and Kelly Osbourn and is currently a member of Adam Lambert's band.

Lesiha is formerly a member of The Murmurs and starred in Showtime's The LWord. She made recently made headlines after being ejected a Southwest Airlines flight after kissing her girlfriend.

Jerry Nunn caught up with the lesbian power-duo as they headed out of town following a show at Chicago's House of Blues.

JN: (Jerry Nunn) Hello, ladies. I just saw the show last night in Chicago.

A: (Leisha Halley) Good. Did I meet you at the merch table after?

JN: No, I didn't know you were going to be there.

A: (Leisha Halley) I wasn't sure because three boys came up after the show. I thought you were one of them.

JN: There were about only three men in the audience. It was definitely a female audience member show. It was a great crowd.

A: (Leisha Halley) Yes, it was the best. It is such a beautiful House of Blues too.

JN: I know. Where are you off to next?

A: (Leisha Halley) We are headed to Atlanta.

JN: The weather should be better there.

A: (Leisha Halley) I hope so. It has been rainy in every city we have been to. So if anybody needs rain they should book us!

JN: How did you get together as a band?

A: (Leisha Halley) We met at a park at a paint ball game where we had mutual friends that were playing. I met Camila later that year. I was looking to start a new band. She was really talented and playing in the band Mellowdrome. I called her the next day out of the blue and asked her if she was interested in starting a band.

JN: So you like being in bands? I know you have been in a few before…

A: (Leisha Halley) I love it. I don't know what it is about being in a band that I love so much but I like collaborating a lot. It is like starting a big dream with someone else. There is something really neat about it.

JN: You seemed very comfortable onstage. You switched different instruments. You have good moves!

A: (Leisha Halley) Well, thank you. The last part for me is one my most favorite things about it. I like performing.

JN: Do you notice if you get a lot of L Word fans?

A: (Leisha Halley) Definitely when we first started the band. Now it is leaning towards fans of the band and the people that have stuck with us.

JN: Do you want to do more acting?

A: (Leisha Halley) Definitely. I took the last two years to concentrate on music and it was a nice break for me because the L Word was a big chunk of my life. I needed to do something else for a while. I will go back to auditioning soon.

JN: Do you have a video out for this album?

A: (Leisha Halley) We do. We have the song "Another Case" and we have a video for it that we put out last week.

JN: Can people find it on the website?

A: (Leisha Halley) We on uhhuhher.com will link you to our Facebook and Youtube page with the video on there.

JN: Sure and let's talk to Camila here as well. I thought you did great in the show last night.

A: (Camila Grey) I was barely there. I was fine until one by one of the band members got sick.

JN: I am sorry to hear that. With the name of the record being Nocturnes does that mean you stay up all night?

A: (Camila Grey) I'm a night owl. I tend to come alive at night and that is where I am the most creative. I am a very nocturnal person. I love the day too.

JN: Do you have a favorite song on the album to play live?

A: (Camila Grey) I do. I love to play "Wake to Sleep." It is one of my favorite songs.

I like that it is orchestral. I am such a classical nerd.

JN: Are you a PJ Harvey fan with the name of the group?

A: (Camila Grey) I am. I wouldn't say I am a die-hard fan but I have gone to see her many times. We needed a band name and needed it quickly. Little did we know that we were going to use it years later. We have to keep explaining it to be people now. It is a strange name and hard to day. We are trying to transition it to be UHH.

JN: That happens with many bands. They get stuck in a name and there you go.

A: (Camila Grey) Now people know us from that name and we can't start over from scratch again.

JN: Are you still doing stuff with Adam Lambert?

A: (Camila Grey) I am.

JN: I know he has new music coming out. Are you going around on that tour also?

A: (Camila Grey) I don't know yet. We have spoken a little bit since he has been working on his writing and I have been on the road. I don't know how my little body is going to handle it yet. I will be involved in it some way or another.

JN: Well, you need to rest up and get well.

A: (Camila Grey) I know. I need a break.

JN: Sorry I didn't get to meet you after the show.

A: (Camila Grey) It is better that way. You can remain healthy now.

JN: I just wanted to let you know that I fly JetBlue…

A: (Camila Grey) (laughs) That's good, go JetBlue!
