Large crowds, street closures and parking restrictions will make getting around Wrigleyville and Boystown increasingly more difficult this weekend

Chicago, IL - Residents, businesses and guests to Wrigleyville and Boystown should be aware of neighborhood restrictions and street closures around Wrigley Field this weekend as the Chicago Cubs return to face the Cleveland Indians in the World Series.

"This is a new experience for almost all of us," Ald. Tom Tunney (44th Ward) said in an email to neighborhood residents. "The next week will be busy, and we expect large crowds in the area for every game. Our neighborhood will be in the national spotlight."

According to Chicago Police, there will be heightened security and checkpoints around Wrigley Field, including a two-block perimeter around the ballpark secured by more than 1,000 officers.

The area between Racine and Halsted, and Irving Park and Belmont is expected to draw large crowds, so vehicular and pedestrian traffic will likely be restricted. Tunney has encouraged residents to carry current identification and/or a current lease or utility bill for access.

Residential Permit Parking will be in effect and strictly enforced beginning at 5 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday (if necessary). Visitors parking on neighborhood streets are encouraged to pay special attention to street signs and temporary posted paper signs prior to leaving their car.

Loitering will not be permitted on any streets surrounding Wrigley Field, including Clark and Addison, and police will be confiscating alcohol on sight.

Officials remind the public to call 9-1-1 and tell a nearby officer if they see anything suspicious or alarming.
