'He is receiving the help that he needs,’ says Tidwell’s recent partner

Chicago, IL - Dane Tidwell, CEO of Opus Media, has been located according to friends and family.

"The search is over," Adam Henderson, who identified as 'Dane's recent partner', wrote on Tidwell's Facebook. "Dane is alive and breathing. It's time to call off the search."

Late Friday, DNAInfo Chicago reported Tidwell's family was notified by Chicago Police that he was alive and safe.

Tidwell disappeared on August 13, the day he turned 40 and the same day he and Henderson were evicted from their Chicago apartment. Concerned for his safety, friends and colleagues initiated a search on August 15.

On Friday, Henderson assured friends that Tidwell is safe, "He is receiving the help that he needs, and he is in the right hands."

According to the Chicago Reader, Tidwell and Henderson owe $14,400 to their former landlord, Dr. Holger Schlageter. The publication reports earlier eviction proceedings against Tidwell were launched in 2010, 2011 (twice), and 2013.

Tidwell had been active in a number of LGBT media enterprises in recent years. Opus Media evolved from the Chicago Phoenix website, which Tidwell and colleagues launched following an attempt to overhaul Gay Chicago Magazine, shortly before that publication went out of business in 2011.
