“Here's the story of a lovely” Brady Experience that should not be missed while in North Hollywood, California. Located in a quaint cul-de-sac at 11222 Dilling Street lies a home packed full of memorabilia and history.
Based on the popular seventies sitcom The Brady Bunch, this house was where the exterior shots were filmed and later renovated inside by HGTV to match the soundstage set where the interiors were shot at Paramount Pictures Studios.
The renovation doubled the house's size and moved Greg's attic bedroom into the basement for height requirements. This might seem awkward but the layout is easy to navigate and explore. There are both indoor and outdoor areas as well as some spectacular views from upstairs. Pick a “Sunshine Day” to visit and you won't be disappointed.
A 1971 Plymouth Satellite Wagon is parked right in front of the immaculate lawn in front. Please don't walk on the grass and don't play ball in the house! Please remove shoes or use supplied booties to not soil the shag carpeting and proceed inside.
Cameras are all around to watch visitors, so resist the temptation to take a playing card from the house for a souvenir. There are several unique items to purchase on the website if so inclined such as a Brady-inspired jigsaw puzzle and coaster set
Enter through the front door into the drop-down den and stop by Mike Brady's office chock full of architectural artifacts. Sweep by housekeeper Alice's bedroom just off the kitchen by the laundry room. The orange countertop presents little touches such as cookies and milk served right on the spot. The sliding glass door opens into a backyard curated with a swing set and Tiger's doghouse. There are more cars parked in the back and fun fact: the show held an agreement with the car company and studio heads to only use Plymouths or Chryslers.
Return inside and climb the unforgettable staircase leading up to the shared bedrooms of the blended family. The parent's and children's bedrooms are breathtaking and painstakingly planned out by the decorators. While every room is picture perfect, just a few photos have been published to not spoil some of the surprises found within including props.
Owner Tina Trahan bought the house for $3.2 million and is currently using the space for charity and fundraising where fans can win contests to meet some of the cast and then take photographs as part of the prize. No Kid Hungry is benefitting from the sweepstakes now.
Patrons will pay more than 80 for this Brady as private tours are $250 per individual. That's much cheaper than the other Brady house in Studio City two miles from it which rents for $12,500 per month.
By the way, Christopher Knight who played Peter Brady wound up being the richest of the cast with a net worth of $10 million. Now that cash can buy a lot of pork chops and apple sauce. His character once said, “If we don't raise $20,000 in one week, we'll have to move!”
In the Windy City, nostalgic television watchers have been treated to traveling pop-ups from The Office and Friends, but the Bradys take things to a whole new far-out level!
Why go to the Grand Canyon or Hawaii like the Bradys did on the show when you can visit this immersive experience like Nunn other? “Sure, Jan” make another pun…
