Six Flags Great America is diving into a devilish endeavor and the Wrath of Rakshasa is breaking glass ceilings along the way. On May 31, several world records will be broken as the latest ride opens in the County Fair area of the amusement park located at 1 Great America Drive in Gurnee, Illinois.

Rakshasa is a steel dive coaster with a near-vertical 97-degree drop of 171 feet. There's a moment of suspension lasting three seconds to amp up excitement before plunging towards the ground. Five inversions follow that initial drop along the 3,239 feet of track and riders travel up to 67 miles per hour before it's over.

A hanging conveyor contraption with metal compartments allows personal belongings to be stored as the guests enter the lanes. There are seven seats across to strap into and a gate opens in front to start the uphill adventure on a train without a floor.

Coaster enthusiasts are in for a treat, as there are plenty of twists and turns to satisfy anyone.

Wrath is a traveling exhibition from The Ornelas Brothers and is now planted in a new home, accompanied by demonic sculptures and statues. The menacing monster Rakshasa is inspired by Hindu and Buddhist mythology and matches well with the park's programming of Fright Fest in the fall.

Nearby, the dive coaster hungry fans can sink their fangs into themed food and purchase unique merchandise tied to the rollercoaster.

Wrath of Rakshasa pairs well with sister coasters X-Flight and Demon. This replacement of the Buccaneer Battle is a smart move and will have people screaming all summer long.

A brand new kids' area is slated for 2026, so follow sixflags.com/greatamerica for more information. Wrath of Rakshasa is set to become one of the most popular sites in the park and will possess one's soul to experience it again and again.
