You’ve Got a Busy Weekend

Can you smell it? Spring is in the air...although you may need to trade in your snow boots for galoshes this weekend. Don't let that deter you though from having fun, there is still plenty to do. Scooty & JoJo are kicking off their new show at The Spot in Uptown and Dixie Longate is hitting the stage in Aurora selling her Tupperware like no one can. Get out there and have some fun!

THURSDAY, MARCH 5

Stop by Women & Children First Books - 5233 N Clark - for a release party for the new novel Ruins by Achy Obejas, stop by and enjoy some cake and champagne at 7:30PM

NewTown Writers will meet at Gerber/Hart Library for their Writers Workshop at 7:30

Chicago The Musical is playing at the Oriental Theater through Sunday, check out my review, tickets are available from $30 to $150 and you can purchase online.

Dixie's Tupperware Party kicks off at the Copley Theater in Aurora tonight and runs through the 15th. Believe me you, this is not your Mama's Tupperware Party! I drove out to Des Moines last year to see Dixie and it was well worth the drive. Tickets are $32. If you don't feel like driving, why not join the Great Lake Bears for a Road Trip on the 14th.

RAIN: A Tribute to the Beatles is rocking the Auditorium theater through Sunday. If you're like me and just a little bit too young to have seen the Fab 4 in person, nows your chance to experience what one of their concerts were like. Ticket prices are $35-75 and can be purchased online.

FRIDAY, MARCH 6

Stop by the Chicago Cultural Center for 'Lunchbreak: Music Without Borders' at 12:15, enjoy a Mediterranean guitar duet with your lunch.

Women & Children First Books in Andersonville will be hosting Emily Mendenhall, editor of Global Health Narratives at 7:30 for a discussion on health issues involving the world.
