Dina Martina swings into Club ZinZanni

For over 25 years, Teatro ZinZanni has brought entertainment to audiences under the Speigeltent Zazou on the 14th floor of the Cambria Hotel in Chicago. This hidden treasure is located at 32 West Randolph Street and is an immersive experience.

Ticket holders take an elevator to check in with the team and are offered a coat check, a retail store and photo opportunities. Hosts greet and seat people to their assigned tables to settle in for a night of spectacle.

Club ZinZanni capitalizes on the signature show and creates programming to showcase performers with brief stints under the big top. There's a limited menu to accompany the show, which focuses on light bite items such as chicken sliders and parmesan truffle fries.

Drag shows are planned for the future and to high kick it off is none other than Dina Martina.

The marvelous Martina is known for her annual jaunts to Provincetown, Massachusetts and for her snappy humor. She slips in carefully orchestrated mispronunciations of certain words and lengthy stories about clowns into her stage act.

She mixes in off-key cover tunes like her hilarious rendition of Glen Campbell's “Wichita Lineman.”

On May 21, this unique and zany performer swung into the antique tent on a moon and a prayer. Her loyal gay man following was right there with her and she was surrounded by some people who were discovering her for the first time as well. The laughter was infectious that special night and gave a much needed escape from the outside world.

Big Top brunches are coming to the tent with the season 16 winner of RuPaul's Drag Race Nymphia Wind on June 8 at noon.
