Now streaming on Disney+ Fire of Love is an explosive documentary that might not set your heart on fire.

Director Sara Dosa brings to life the tale of two French scientists Katia and Maurice Krafft who explore their love of volcanoes together. Over the course of an hour and a half brilliant images and an intriguing story are laid out for the world to see. We as the audience are able to take a behind-the-scenes look at what these adventurers go through and the challenges that they face during this time period.

This National Geographic Documentary Films endeavor has the right stuff to engage audiences with brightly colored lava and the fragility of human life.

Spoiler alert, the partners died from an eruption on June 3, 1991, in Japan while capturing photographs and gathering research together. Somehow the show remains uplifting as the couple passed away doing the very thing that brought them together in the first place which is both ironic and beautiful all at the same time. At times life is about the journey and these two volcanologists live every moment to the fullest.

Performer Miranda July narrates and sounds a bit like Debbie Downer, the fictional character by Rachel Dratch on Saturday Night Live. Her voice doesn't convey the love story as upbeat as it should be, but the quirkiness is appropriate for Fire of Love.

The story is conveyed through archival footage so it becomes a history lesson that is dedicated to the 43 people who died on Mt. Unsen. The happy couple did not have children to pass on their legacy to. They were instead married to nature and their mission in life.

The film already won the Jonathan Oppenheim Editing Award at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival and will be up for other trophies during awards season including a slew of nominations at the Critics' Choice Awards.

Trek over to DisneyPlus.com to stream this fiery film that will leave a lasting impression. Fire of Love combines science and romance to make a red-hot story to remember!
