Don't miss Trevor the musical

Trevor the musical hits the suburban town of Glencoe and things will never be the same. It follows the story of a 13 year old boy set in 1981 who goes through many trials and tribulations before learning to accept himself.

It is based on the Academy Award winning film Trevor that later inspired a suicide prevention organization focused on the LGBT community called The Trevor Project.

Before you think this is really a heavy play realize that this is directed by Marc Bruni from Beautiful: The Carol King Musical, who knows when to bring the drama and when to keep it light.

The story unfolds with a stellar cast that actually seems age appropriate for the material. Eli Tokash hits all the right notes as Trevor and Matthew Uzarraga as his best friend Walter is especially good.

The beautifully renovated Writers Theatre is well worth the trip from the city to see this show before it continues on to Broadway. Sign me up to buy the soundtrack as the music is competitive with many major hits on the Great White Way today.

If you love Diana Ross or Glee you will feel right at home with Trevor!
