Comic-Con 2014 - Avengers X-Men: Axis

Marvel Editor-in-Chief Axel Alosno , editors Nick Lowe, Mike Marts, and Jordan D. White , and writer Rick Remender came together for a panel to discuss the huge Avengers / X-Men crossover in the fall Axis as well as the stories that will be leading up to it:

ALL NEW CAPTAIN AMERICA

Fandom found out last week that Steve Rogers will be putting down the shield and the Captain America mantle will be picked up by his long-time friend and former sidekick Sam Wilson AKA The Falcon. Writer Rick Remender will launch All New Captain America will launch in November with Stuart Immomen on art

"It will be an entirely new tone for the series," said Remender, noting added humor that could only work with Sam behind the shield. "You get a completely different character with Sam. He's not a solider, he's more community minded." Joining Sam on his adventures as Captain America will be Ian Rogers, son of Steve Rogers and the new Nomad fighting against a revamped HYDRA.

AVENGERS: RAGE OF ULTRON (OGN)

Coming April 2015 will be another original graphic novel that falls in line with the continuity of the main Marvel Universe. Rick Remender reunites with his Uncanny X-Force team Jerome Opena and Dean White to bring you avengers: Rage of Ultron . The story focuses on the evolution of the ultimate evil artificial intelligence, dealing with the ramifications of the past of Ultron's creator Hank Pym. The panel noted that a huge question in the story will question the validity of the life of artificial intelligence. The end of the story will bring a whole new Ultron status quo to the Marvel Universe.

MARCH TO AXIS

A handful of Avengers and X-Men titles will play a role in leading up to this falls crossover event Axis . Captain America #24 in September will set up the changing of the guard of the iconic hero from Steve Rogers to Sam Wilson dealing with the Red Skull and the villain's connection to evil scientist Zola.



Uncanny Avengers #24's will see Havoc, Rogue, and the Scarlet Witch in reeducation camps trying to take down the Red Skull and his S-Men. Issue 25 leads to a climax that blows up into Axis #1.

"If you liked the movie X-Men: First Class, you'll love Magento #9," Lowe said noting the Holocaust imprisoned mutant will be hunting Nazis in connection to the Red Skull and Zola.

Avengers X-Men: Axis

The crossover event that brings the two super teams against a suped up Red Skull (with the brain of Charles Xavier) launches in October, written by Remender with art by Adam Kubert and Jim Cheung on covers. The teams will feature members that make up the new status quo upon the conclusion of the current event Original Sin , including Sam Wilson's Captain America and the new female Thor. Featured prominently in the first issue is The Vision. "The goal was getting Vision back to the badass he was," remarked Remender, promising more in the Avengers: Rage of Ultron OGN and the rest of Axis.



The second issue of Axis featured estranged brothers Scott Summers (Cyclops and leader of the Uncanny X-Men) and Alex Summers (Havoc and leader of the Uncanny Avengers) fighting side by side. "This will be a brotherhood and bond reforming," promised Remender.



Tie-ins for the series will include issues of Uncanny Avengers, Deadpool, and Magneto as well as mini-series Axis: Carnage, Axis: Hobgoblin, and Axis: Revolutions.
