Obama to call for repeal of gay military ban during State of the Union

President Obama will seek the repeal of the military's "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy in State of the Union speech tonight according to CNN.com.
OnTopMag.com reported Monday that the President was likely to discuss the military's ban on open gay service during Wednesday's address.
According to CNN quoting White House Senior Advisor David Axelrod, the President will ask Congress to repeal the military's policy that bans gays and lesbians from openly serving.
A new study released Tueday by the Williams Institute at the UCLA School of Law found the US military has spent between $290 million and more than a half a billion dollars implementing DADT.
In 1993, Congress approved the ban which prohibits gay and lesbian service members from revealing their sexuality at the risk of losing their jobs.
During the 2008 presidential campaign Obama pledged to repeal the law.
