Latest attack in Lakeview has Boystown residents on alert

Chicago, IL - Another mugging has been reported in the Lakeview neighborhood this morning. A man was robbed as he came out of a CVS drugstore at Clark and Halsted.

A 49-year-old man had just left the store located in the 3100 block of North Clark Street at about 2:20 a.m. when he was attacked by two young men, according to ChicagoBreakingNews.com.

The victims said two men approached him from behind and pushed him down and took his wallet.

The man was not injured, and there was no report the suspects were armed.

Both robbers were black men ages 20 to 25, and both were wearing all-black clothing, including black shirts, pants and hats, Gaines said. One attacker was about 5-foot-5, weighing about 160 pounds; the other was about 6-foot-2, weighing about 180 pounds.

Police say this attack initially does not appear to be related to a string of strong-armed robberies in Lincoln Park and Lakeview in recent weeks, including a violent attack at Halsted and Buckingham in Boystown last week.

Concerned residents and business owners in Boystown are encouraging Chicago's lesbian and gay community to make a large showing at a Neighborhood Walk planned for Saturday, Aug. 15 at 2:00 a.m. Police Commander Boehmer and Alderman Tunney will meet in the 7-Eleven parking lot, Roscoe and Halsted, and then walk through the neighborhood in an attempt to help disperse the unwanted loitering and crime that has been recently plaguing the neighborhood.
