Oscar Winning 'Milk' released on DVD this week

Chicago, IL - Sean Penn's Oscar-winning performance as the late gay-rights activist Harvey Milk arrived on DVD and Blu-ray DVD from Universal Studios Home Entertainment this week.

Milk (rated R, $29.95), winner of two Academy Awards, is out on disc even though it's still playing in some theaters.

Penn won an Oscar for playing Milk, the San Francisco gay politician who was tragically murdered in 1978. Dustin Lance Black also received an Academy Award for best original screenplay.

The inspiring bio-epic includes an all-star cast including Academy Award nominee Josh Brolin (W., No Country for Old Men), Emile Hirsch (Into the Wild), Diego Luna (Y tú mama también) and James Franco (Spiderman).

The DVD extras include interviews with cast members including Brolin, Oscar-nominated for his role as Dan White. Penn and Oscar-nominated director Gus Van Sant are not interviewed.

Milk was released on March 10 and is available in stores now and online at Shop.ChicagoPride.com
