Chicago, IL - Mayor Rahm Emanuel and the City Council of the City of Chicago on Monday issued a resolution recognizing the 25th anniversary of Too Much Light Makes The Baby Go Blind: 30 Plays in 60 Minutes and its status as the longest running original show in Chicago theater history.

As part of this resolution, The Neo-Futurists are honored "for their ongoing contributions to making the arts part of daily life in Chicago for 25 years and counting."

"For a quarter century the Neo-Futurists have been making art that is honest, profane, joyous, outraged, prickly, robust, witty, drunken, subject to changes in weather and forthright about changes in power--in other words, art that is distinctly Chicagoan," Neo-Futurists' Artistic Director Bilal Dardai told ChicagoPride.com. "We're glad the city took notice and we look forward to being part of the cultural fabric for its next 25 years."

The first performance of Too Much Light Makes The Baby Go Blind: 30 Plays in 60 Minutes - created by Greg Allen, written and performed by The Neo-Futurists - was on Friday, December 2, 1988 at the old Stage Left theater ( now a comic book store ). The show has run continuously ever since, making it the longest running show in Chicago theater history.

December 2, 2013 marked TML's 25th birthday. The official Resolution acknowledges some of the Neos' accomplishments and contributions to the cultural fabric of Chicago.

The Neo-Futurists celebrate 25 years with an anniversary show tonight at 8 p.m. at their original location at 3244 N. Clark St. For more information visit www.neofuturists.org. Seating is limited and in very high demand.
