“I’m Gay,” screams the headline from this week’s People Magazine

Chicago, IL - In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE magazine, N'Sync pop star Lance Bass, 27, has publically stepped out of the closet.

Bass told PEOPLE, "I knew that I was in this popular band and I had four other guys' careers in my hand, and I knew that if I ever acted on it or even said (that I was gay), it would overpower everything."

Approximately one month ago, the popular blog website PerezHilton.com began publishing sightings of Bass and Amazing Race's Reichen Lehmkuhl at a romantic getaway in Provincetown, MA.

Though the gay and lesbian community in New York and Los Angeles has considered Bass’ sexuality something of an open secret for years, main stream media first began speculating when Bass made a 2005 appearance with Kathy Griffin and her "gays" on her reality show, My Life on the 'D' List.

The interview with Lance Bass will appear in PEOPLE magazine, available on newstands this Friday.
