In interview aired shortly before the Super Bowl starts, President Barack Obama called for the Boy Scouts of America to end their ban on gay troop leaders and scouts.
When CBS News' Scott Pelley asked the president whether or not he believes the Boy Scouts should allow gay troop members. Obama answered with an emphatic "yes."
"Gays and lesbians should have access and opportunity the same way everybody else does in every institution and walk of life, and the Scouts are a great institution that are promoting young people and exposing them to opportunities and leadership that will serve people for the rest of their lives, and nobody should be barred from that," said Obama.
