Equality Illinois petitions against Chick-fil-A, supports Kiss-In protest

Equality Illinois (EQIL) has launched a campaign against Chick-fil-A in an effort to further expose the company's anti-gay practices and policies.
Dubbed "Flick-the-Hate," the gay rights group is asking people to sign an online petition urging the state's universities and shopping malls from doing business with Atlanta-based Chick-fil-A.
On August 1, EQIL is urging supporters to eat at a local LGBT-friendly restaurant as part of their statewide "Eat for Love" campaign. A list of participating restaurants is available on the "Flick-the-Hate" Facebook page.
Then on Friday, August 3, EQIL is promoting a nationwide Kiss-In campaign at local Chick-fil-A restaurants, where LGBT supporters will show their disdain for Chick-fil-A's policies with public displays of affection in front of their restaurants.
The "Flick-the-Hate" campaign comes just after Alderman Joe Moreno announced plans to block a second Chicago Chick-fil-A location from opening in the 1st Ward.
Chick-fil-A has been under intense fire by gay rights groups after President Dan Cathy admitted to being anti-gay during an interview published in the Baptist Press on July 16.
According to Equality Matters, Chick-fil-A has donated nearly $5 million to groups opposed to gay rights, including the Family Research Council (FRC).
