Annual festival marked 30th anniversary in 2011

Chicago, IL - Reeling: The Chicago Lesbian & Gay International Film Festival has been placed on hiatus for 2012 according to a press release Thursday from Chicago Filmmakers, the not-for-profit media arts organization that produce the annual event.

The second oldest LGBT film festival in the world, Reeling marked a milestone with its 30th anniversary festival in 2011. Organizers said the festival will return in 2013 "stronger than ever."

The announcement indicated time off from producing Reeling "will afford the organization the opportunity to strategically plan for Reeling's future."

Chicago Filmmakers plan to conduct a national search for a new Festival Director in order to replace festival founder and director Brenda Webb. The board will focus attention on fundraising over the next year to help support the added staff position.

Webb will devote her full attention to her primary position as Executive Director of Chicago Filmmakers.
