Washington State Gov. Chris Gregoire will announce on Wednesday that she is going to support gay marriage.
The Seattle Times said the governor's office would only confirm a morning press conference about "marriage equality."
Gay activists in Washington State plan to push for legalization of same-sex marriage this year.
The Washington legislature starts its next session on Monday.
Gregoire has said before that she supports giving gays and lesbians "the same rights" as married straight couples, but has never specifically supported gay marriage.
