Washington, D.C. -
A new biography of Richard Nixon, "Nixon's Darkest Secrets: The Inside Story of America's Most Troubled President," claims that he had a long-time gay affair with suspected mobster Bebe Rebozo.
The book, written by former White House correspondent Don Fulsom, also claims that Nixon beat the First Lady.
Rebozo was a Cuban-American who met Nixon while he was a Congressman representing Florida. The men were friends for 44 years, and frequently went on men-only vacations together.
Fulsom said that Nixon and Rebozo were once spotted holding hands under a table at a fancy Washington restaurant, and also once spotted nuzzling each other "the way you'd cuddle your senior prom date."
Fulsom writes that Nixon was not sure how to show affection towards Mrs. Nixon and had to be coached on kissing by an aide.
Federal authorities suspected Rebozo was laundering money for drug dealers for years.
When Nixon died in 1994, Rebozo was at his side. He died four years later.
