Houston -
John G. Lawrence, the gay man whose privacy fight led to a Supreme Court ruling that ended sodomy laws, has passed away.
Lawrence died late last month of a heart condition in Houston. He was 68.
Lawrence was arrested in 1998 at his own home near Houston by deputies who found him having sex with a man named Tyrone Gardner. They were accused of breaking Texas' sodomy law.
Lawrence pursued his privacy rights all the way to the Supreme Court, and in 2003, justices threw the law out.
