Men’s Health magazine features “The Ripped Representative” in a photo spread that’s refueling speculation about his sexuality

Chicago, IL - Photos of Illinois Congressman Aaron Schock are creating quite a bit of buzz on the Internet Monday, after the "Ripped Representative" shows off his washboard abs on the June cover of Men's Health.

Schock is working with the magazine on the Fit for Life Summer Challenge. In the feature article Schock shares details of his daily workout routine, that begins at 6:30 a.m. in the House of Representatives gym on Capitol Hill.

"Exercise is more important that diet for me because it's a twofer. It keeps me in good physical shape and it relieves stress," Schock told the magazine.

The 29-year-old Schock, who is the youngest current member of the House of Representatives, also talks about his political future and the responsibility of being a role model.

"If you want to start talking about healthy lifestyles and staying in shape, then you yourself should do your best to try to be a model, an example to people you're trying to convince to do the same," he said.

The photos are refueling rumors that he's gay. In 2009 TMZ first posted shirtless photos of him poolside sans shirt, which ignited speculation that Schock might be gay. Schock, who is not married, has previously said that he is not gay.

A conservative Republican from Peoria, Schock is opposed to abortion and gay marriage rights according to a 2009 profile in Details magazine. He voted against amending federal hate-crimes laws to include crimes where the victims were targeted on the basis of sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender. He also voted against the repeal of the military's "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" in December 2010.

The June issue of Men's Health is on newsstands May 24th.
