In the wake of last summer's scandal, Target Corporation again finds itself again at odds with the LGBT community over a new lawsuit against a pro-gay group.
The Minnesota-based Target is suing a San Diego pro-gay marriage group in San Diego County to get them to stop canvassing outside stores, reports the Associated Press.
Target and Canvass For A Cause (CFAC) will meet in court on Friday morning in a case that is sure to further strain the companies relationship with the LGBT community.
"It's very David vs. Goliath," CFAC director Tres Watson told the AP. "We understand they're the Goliath in the room. They've got all money in world to get us to stop talking about gay marriage."
Target says the pro-gay activists are driving away customers.
Target insists the lawsuit has nothing to do with a political agenda.
Last summer Target contributed over $150,000 to a Minnesota group that supported an anti-gay candidate for governor, which significantly damaged Target's generally positive relationship with gays in Minnesota and nationwide.
Lady Gaga recently dropped a deal allowing Target to sell the deluxe edition of her new hit, "Born This Way" over the companies treatment of gays and lesbians.
"[It was] one of the most intense conversations I've ever had in a business meeting," she said.
Critics of Target's anti-gay positions blame the company's conservative CEO, Gregg Steinhafel.
