Washington, DC - Rep. Christopher Lee, a married Republican who represents Western New York state, quits Wednesday night after the website Gawker revealed his personal ad from Craigslist - placing the conservative congressman in an adultery scandal.

'I regret the harm that my actions have caused my family, my staff and my constituents,' the 46-year-old Lee said in a statement.

The shirtless photo of Lee soliciting a woman he meet on Craigslist surfaced Wednesday on Gawker. He allegedly has been using the site's "Women Seeking Men" section to seek out adulterous hook-ups in the Washington DC area.

Gawker's Maureen O'Connor said, "Lee's support for ‘Don't Ask, Don't Tell' and vote to reject federal abortion funding suggests a certain comfort with publicly scrutinizing others' sex lives."

In 2010, the House voted to overturn ‘Don't Ask, Don't Tell.‘ Lee voted against the repeal.

According to ThePoliticalGuide.com, there is limited information as to Lee's stance on gay marriage. The conservative does not have a recorded vote on marriage equality, though he has never co-sponsored legislation against gay marriage.
