Joliet, Ill. - County clerks in Illinois are looking over their paperwork and policies as they get ready for the influx of gay and lesbian residents seeking civil unions.

Unless a judge intervenes, civil unions will become legal in Illinois on June 1.

The Will County clerk is trying to sort out how to deal with one basic part of her system: pink forms for brides and blue forms for grooms.

"Right now everything says bride and groom," said Chief Deputy Clerk Judy Wiedmeyer, according to FOX Chicago News. "Is it going to be partner and partner?"

The Clerk is also trying to figure out how to document the partners' places of residence, since some might come from states where civil unions are not legal.

The Illinois Department of Public Health, which is in charge of records for events like births and marriages, said it's working on guidelines.
