New Zealand -
Air New Zealand has cut a scene about a tame peck on the cheek from an in-flight safety film because the kisser and the kissed are both men.
The New Zealand Herald reports that The video stars players from the All Black rugby team. In the video, openly gay flight attendant Will Coxhead offers to kiss player Richard Kahui. Kahui refuses.
"When we created this video and discussed the scene featuring a gay male flight attendant and a rugby player with key stakeholders, including a number of the gay community, we received none of the feedback we have in the past week," Air New Zealand manager David Morgan told the newspaper.
"The scene was not something that we, the people we tested the scene with, or indeed the participants in the scene, viewed as distasteful or likely to cause concern," Morgan continued.
The flight attendant involved a little more to the point in his analysis of the uproar.
"Obviously there are some people in the gay community that can be a little precious and need to lighten up," Coxhead said.
