AIDS Run and Walk kicks off this morning; onsite registration available

Onsite reservation begins at 8 a.m.

AIDS Run & Walk Chicago, one of the city's high-profile fundraisers to combat HIV/AIDS, is this morning. The ninth annual 5K event takes place at Columbus and Balbo in Grant Park.
More than 7,000 people are expected to participate. This includes a large contingent of corporate teams as well as those formed by local high schools and colleges.
In addition a 5K run and 5K walk, new this year is a 10K run. The runs start at 9:55 a.m.; the walk at 10:00 a.m.
Proceeds benefit the AIDS Foundation of Chicago and more than 70 local AIDS organizations. Since it was established in 2001, AIDS Run & Walk Chicago has netted more than $3 million.
Onsite registration is available this morning for $30. The reservation tents will open at 8:00 a.m.
