'Love Unites': Chicago Fire celebrates unity with LGBTQ community on June 10

Chicago Fire Pride Night, Saturday, June 10 at 7:30 p.m.
The Chicago Fire plays host to the offensive juggernaut that is the Columbus Crew SC on Saturday, June 10 at Soldier Field in the team’s annual Pride Night.
The Fire is winless in its last five matches with a 3-5-8 record. The Crew, meanwhile, have won 4 of their last 6 matches, including a 4-2 home victory over Charlotte FC on June 3.
The Crew (7-6-3) has the most goals scored of all 29 Major League Soccer (MLS) teams.
As part of Pride Night, players in the just-announced Play Proud League will receive a complimentary ticket to the match and will stand, in unity, alongside FC Pineapple, the official supporter’s group of Chicago Fire FC.
The Fire are looking forward to creating a lively night of unity, inclusivity, and celebrating what makes us all unique, team officials said. Throughout the evening, there will be a flag giveaway and activities planned to recognize the contributions of the LGBTQ community to soccer and beyond, including:
- Players and in-arena host Gabe Ramirez will wear “Love Unites” Pride warm-up tops.
- Giveaway item: 10,000 Fire/Pride branded foam-handle flags.
- Specialty Pride merchandise, such as the warm-up top, t-shirt, bucket hat and scarves will be available, and a portion of merchandise revenue will be donated to Play Proud.
- Specialty Pride concessions including a rainbow snow cone.
- The National Anthem will be performed by the Chicago Gay Men’s Choir.
- In-stadium performances at the Second Star Pub will feature DJ Saint Devera and singer/songwriter Vasil.
- DJ Cabrera will host trivia and music at Second Star Pub with Pride-themed giveaways
- Pride Progress décor will be spread around the south courtyard and at info kiosks.
- Rainbow Balloon Arch and CF97 rainbow color balloon word mark will be on display in the south courtyard for photo ops.
- The photo station near Gate 0 will have Pride-themed props and colorful boas.
