A Chicago native, Ross Forman has written about the local and national LGBT scene for more than 10 years, particularly sports reporting, as well as feature stories, business profiles and breaking news. Ross also has written for several mainstream media outlets, such as the Chicago Tribune, Chicago Sun-Times and the Daily Herald, among others. Ross won the 2013 Lisagor Award for the Best Sports Story of the Year: “Esera Tuaolo: Coming back from darkness." An accomplished, prolific and professional photographer, his work has appeared in multiple media outlets and even on Christmas cards for celebrities.

A former college hockey player, Ross no longer plays. Instead, he is an accomplished ice hockey referee who primarily officiates high school and college games. He also is a former minor league baseball umpire who now umpires high school and college baseball, as well as the CMSA Open Sunday Softball League and has umpired the annual Gay Softball World Series on multiple occasions. Ross has run 22 marathons since 2007 and is a marathon coach for Team In Training, the endurance-training program of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. In his freetime, Ross enjoys the beach, traveling and baffling with "useless trivia facts."
