Portland, Maine - Lady Gaga is pursuing repeal of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" with a rally on Monday in Maine.

"Meet me in Portland, Maine 2moro," Lady Gaga tweeted to her more than 6 million followers on Sunday, "to help repeal #DADT. I'm holding a Rally + speaking live in Deering Oaks Park."

The rally, which will begin at 4PM ET near the University of Southern Maine, is sponsored by the Servicemembers Legal Defense Network (SLDN), the largest group lobbing for repeal of the law that forbids gay troops from serving openly, and is being held on the eve of a key vote on repeal in the Senate.

On Friday, the Alejandro singer released a video backing repeal of the 1993 law. Seated in front of an American flag, a blond-haired Lady Gaga urges her fans to get involved in the fight to overturn the law that prescribes discharge for gay and lesbian service members who do not remain celibate or closeted.

"I am here to be the voice of my generation, not the generation of the senators who are voting, but the youth of this country. The generation that is affected by this law and whose children will be affected. We are not asking you to agree with or approve of the moral implications of homosexuality, we're asking you to do your job: To protect the constitution."

The video was released after the gay icon walked the Video Music Awards red carpet escorted by four gay military veterans impacted by the policy and after exchanging tweets on the subject with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.
