Anti-Gay, Anti-Sex Tea Party Candidate Christine O'Donnell Wins Delaware Senate Primary

Christine O'Donnell, a Tea Party candidate most of the country hadn't heard of two months ago, has won the Delaware Republican primary for Senate, and now she's going to spring her anti-gay, anti-sex, anti-abortion message on the world.
O'Donnell beat 9-term lawmaker and former governor Mike Castle 53 to 47 percent on Tuesday night.
O'Donnell's out-of-nowhere victory means that a lot of voters are not really familiar with her background, and were really just voting for the anti-establishment candidate.
But fans of the MTV show "Sex in the 90's" might remember O'Donnell as the President of Saviors Alliance for Lifting the Truth (SALT), an anti-sex group. On MTV, O'Donnell said that even masturbation is a sin.
"The Bible says that lust in your heart is committing adultery. So you can't masturbate without lust," she said. "The reason that you don't tell [people] that masturbation is the answer to AIDS and all these other problems that come with sex outside of marriage is because again it is not addressing the issue. You're just gonna create somebody who is, I was gonna say, toying with his sexuality."
Salon found this quote from the same period:
"When a married person uses pornography, or is unfaithful, it compromises not just his (or her) purity, but also compromises the spouse's purity," O'Donnell wrote. "As a church, we need to teach a higher standard than abstinence. We need to preach a righteous lifestyle."
O'Donnell also repeatedly insinuated that Castle is gay, and then denied the insinuations in interviews that only proceeded to emphasize the point: "I never said that Mike Castle was gay. I don't endorse putting out rumors that Mike Castle is gay."
Now that she's won the Republican nomination, it's not clear whether she can beat the Democratic candidate, Chris Coons, in the battle for Vice President Joe Biden's old seat. Before Tuesday's victory, the Republican state chairman said she "could not be elected dogcatcher."
