Lady Gaga continues to speak out against Don't Ask, Don't Tell," the 1993 law that prohibits gay troops from serving openly.

Gaga, who dominated the 2010 Video Music Awards with a total of 8 awards on Sunday night, shared the spotlight with four soldiers discharged from service under DADT. Her escorts were former U.S. Air Force Staff Sargent David Hall; former U.S. Air Force Major Mike Almy; top West Point cadet Katie Miller, who resigned her post in August in protest of DADT; and Former U.S. Army Sargent First Class Stacy Vasquez.

The Alejandro singer is now asking fans to join her and the Servicemembers Legal Defense Network (SLDN) in helping repeal the discriminatory policy.  Since the inception of DADT in 1994 under the Clinton administration, SLDN has been legally defending and fighting for the rights of the courageous service members unfairly discharged.

"Repeal Don't Ask Don't Tell. CALL HARRY REID to Schedule Senate Vote," Gaga tweeted to her more than 6 million Twitter followers. She also shared a photo from Sunday night (above).

A federal judged ruled the Clinton-era law unconstitutional last week, but gay groups including SLDN are urging Congress to repeal the law now.

On Top Magazine reports that aides to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid confirm the Senate will vote next week on repeal of DADT.
