Hollywood -
"I Love You Philip Morris" has finally escaped legal limbo. The movie, which focuses on a prison romance between characters played by Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor, will be released in theaters on December 3.
That's after months of back and forth and floating release dates due to a legal battle between movie studio and producer EuropaCorp, and distributor Consolidated.
December's release is being handled by Roadside Attractions.
The movie tells the story of Steven Russell, a police officer and married man who realizes after a dramatic car accident that he's gay.
He ditches the wife and jumps into a flamboyant gay lifestyle, making money on the flip side of the law with con games. He meets the love of his life, Philip Morris, when he's thrown behind bars and then tries repeatedly to break Morris out of prison.
"I Love You Philip Morris" was well-received released at film festivals but has not been released to mainstream theaters.
