Despite NBC's decision to allow same-sex couples to enter its "Modern Love" wedding contest, no gay or lesbian couples were among the final four revealed on the "Today" show Monday morning.

When NBC originally announced the contest, same-sex couples had been excluded from participating because of restrictions on gay marriage in New York.

After public pressure, "Today" executive producer Jim Bell meet with the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) in July and the network changed the rules of the contest to allow same-sex couples.

"Today" co-host Ann Curray announced the winners from "hundreds of videos and applications."

Viewers will decide the final winner on the "Today" website or on Facebook. The winner will be married on-air October 6th.

Gay and lesbian couples can legally marry in New Hampshire, Massachusetts,Connecticut, Iowa, and Vermont. New York, California, Rhode Island, New Mexico and Washington, DC recognize marriages by same-sex couples legally performed elsewhere.
