Sonoma County, Calif. - An elderly gay man who was separated from his dying partner, accused of abuse, and left penniless fighting the spurious allegations has won $600,000 in a discrimination lawsuit.

78-year-old Clay Greene sued Sonoma County officials after a horrible series of injustices which started when his 88-year-old partner, Harold Scull, was injured in a fall.

Hospital officials would not let him see his partner, Harold Scull, despite the fact that they had numerous legal documents asserting their partnership, including living wills and powers of attorney.

Social workers argued that Scull was the victim of domestic violence.

So social workers forced Greene into a nursing home, confiscated his property including art and heirlooms, and sold it at auction. They even got rid of their two cats.

Greene and Scull had been partners for 20 years. They never got to see each other again.

Greene's attorney told the Santa Rosa Press-Democrat that at least this settlement will assure that Greene will live out the rest of his life in comfort.
