Chicago, IL - 7:00 p.m. - ChicagoPride.com arrives at the Lightfoot Election Party

7:37 p.m. - Crowd here goes wild as Lightfoot takes an early lead. There's still a lot of votes out there.

7:48 p.m. - With over 50% of precincts reporting, its a good night for LGBT candidates. Alderman Tunny appears to have a solid lead over his challengers, while Maria Hadden looks like she will unseat Joe Moore in the 49th ward.

7:54 p.m. - Openly gay Ramirez-Rosa also appears to be surviving a primary challenge. Still a lot of votes to be counted.

8:09 p.m. - With a little over half the votes in his ward counted, somehow Ed Burke might hold on.

8:16 p.m. - Lightfoot is still in the lead, but Toni Preckwinkle appears to be gaining momentum behind her.

8:40 p.m. - Spoke to Brian Johnson, head of Equality Illinois - "Part of me is still that 14-year-old queer kid coming to grips with my identity in suburban Virginia, wondering if I would have a future where I would be equal, loved and affirmed. This city and this State shows me every week that is true"

9:30 p.m. - Lori just wrapped up her remarks to a jubilant crowd. It is now apparent that she will make the runoff election, likely facing off against Toni Preckwinkle. This guarantees an African-American woman will be Chicago's next mayor.
