YOU’VE GOT A BUSY WEEKEND

Every day is getting longer and I hope you're enjoying the extra sunshine. It's great to be outside at 8PM and still have light to see by! Make sure you start the weekend out right by checking out a new season of Farmer's Markets that are now open. There's plenty to do so get out there and have some fun!

THURSDAY, MAY 13

It's my favorite time of the year - time for the Farmer's Markets. You'll see them sprouting up all over the place, like at Daley Plaza today from 3PM-7PM. On Saturday you can catch Farmer's Markets at Division Street, Lincoln Park and in the Rowen Trees neighborhoods and Sunday you can shop at the Beverly Farmer's Market. If you feel like singing and think you have what it takes to be a winner then you've got two chances tonight. Windy City Gay Idol is going strong with a stop at Scarlet tonight, sign-up starts at 7, show starts at 8. The winner gets $100 a chance to move on to the finals. If you hurry up, you can head down to Cocktail and compete for a chance to sing the National Anthem at Wrigley Field during the 2nd Annual Out at Wrigley Day on July 18th, contest runs til 11.

50 Faggots, a new webseries that explores and celebrates effeminate gay men, will kick it off in style with a Launch Party at Hydrate hosted by Cyon Flare and featuring several cast members in headlining acts! Tix are $7 at the door, the fun starts at 6:30. Enjoy the fun tonight and head to the Center on Halsted on Friday for a screening of the first episode! I'll see you there.

FRIDAY, MAY 14

Visit an oldie, but goodie, Plymouth Restaurant & Bar - 327 S Plymouth Court, first visited last june forGuerilla Gay Barit will once again be overun with homos. Starting at 9PM turn the place gay and turn the south loop on it's ear. Drink specials will be available.

Music Box Theater will show Human Centipede for it's Midnight Movie this weekend. I've not heard much about Human centipede but everything I've heard has been utter disgust at this horror film - which intrigues me so much but I don't think I can bear it. Chicago Filmmakers will screen two "forbidden" films this weekend during their Forbidden Cinema - a collection of films curated by film historian and archivist Dennis Nyback. Tonight he'll share a collection of vintage educational films shown to children during "I KNOW WHY YOU'RE AFRAID". Saturday evening the program will take a look at terrorism in pop culture pre-9/11 with films from the 20's, 30's, 50's and more. All programs start at 8PM, tix are $8 at the door.

SATURDAY, MAY 15

Last year we had the Nationwide Kiss-in, now it's time for the Great Global Kiss-in! Gather at Cloud Gate in Millennium Park at 3PM and show the world that it's ok to kiss, and a gay kiss is even better!

The Chicago Dragons, our very own Rugby Team, will hold their annual Bachelor Auction tonight at Sidetrack from 5-8pm. Bachelors, theater tix, gift cards, a vacation condo on Mexico will be auctioned off live. In addition there's a silent auction and door prizes (one of which is an iPad).Tix are $20 in advance/$25 at the door. Proceeds benefit the team.To get your weekend off to a great start, head to Northend on Friday night for their launch party of their new calendar from 9-11PM

Do you have what it takes to be a Bud Boy? Bud Light will host the firstBud Boyz competition tonight at Hydrate they search for four of the hottest guys in Chicago to act as "spokesmodels" for 2010. Tonight is the first of3 preliminaries where 3 winners will move to the finals set for June 9th at Sidetrack. Winners get a trip to Mexico, $250 cash and the chance to make even more during future appearances and more hot prizes.

SUNDAY, MAY 16

Looking for a way to enjoy this great spring? Head north to Andersonville for their Wine Walk you'll get a chance to sample more than 40 wines as you peruse the shops of Andersonville. Two routes, north and south, are available for $25 each and can be purchased online. Each route offers 15 distinct tastings for you to enjoy. Purchase tickets online.

FACEBOOK FIND Stop by Rehab/Circuit for a special Eurchre Tournament to raise money for the fight against AIDS. Your $20 entry fee includes food, cash prizes, gift baskets and more for up to 6 hours of card playing madness! Tournament is scheduled from 12-6PM, you can register same day but get there by 12:30 to guarantee a seat.

Are you serious about biking? I've been enjoying my days riding up and down the lakeshore path but if you're tired of that then join the Windy City Cycling Club as they take part of the Arlington 500 Ride starting at 7AM. Multiple routes 31, 44, 55 or 69(500 furlongs) miles are available. Registration is $15
