Well Chicago, be careful what you asked for - you wanted summer and now you've got it. After a cool start it looks like summer is going out with a bang. There's plenty of great things to do outside this weekend including the Air & Water Show and joining in on a community walk in Boystown on Friday night. Get out there have some fun - and be safe!
THURSDAY, AUGUST 13
Get involved in your neighborhood. Attend the BEAT 2332 CAPS Meeting at the J Merlo Library 644 W Belmont at 7PM.
For a night of Poetry head to Women & Children First Books in Andersonville where local poets Jenene Ravesloot and Lucia Blinn will read from their collected works. While you're 'up north' head on over to Wild Pug for an evening of Prose, Poetry and Pints - an open mic night for authors and new writers from 7:30-10PM

'Rustbelt Revial' opens at Links Hall tonight and runs Sunday. Catch unique solo performances, curated by Holly Hughes. Shows are at 8PM and there's a special 10:30 performance on Saturday night. Buy tickets online $18

FRIDAY, AUGUST 14
There's a special edition of the Flesh Hungry Dog Show tonight at Jackhammer. Mucca Pazza will take the stage at 9PM. Tickets are $8/$10door. Purchase tix online.
Meet up with your Boystown neighbors in the parking lot of the 7-Eleven at Roscoe & Halsted at 2AM and join them in a walk through the neighborhood. Alderman Tom Tunney (pictured) and District 23 Commander Kathleen Boehmer will lead the walk through the neighborhood. Stop in at Pie Hole after the walk for free pizza, just tell them you were on the walk!
We were sad to see TomBoy leave the strip in Andersonville, but we're happy to see Hamburger Mary's expand into the area as The Rec Room. Although they've been open for a few weeks now, tonight is the GRAND OPENING of Rec Room. Stop by from 8-10PM and check out the new space!
SATURDAY, AUGUST 15
Put your pucker on and head down to Millennium Park for the Great Nationwide Kiss-in at 1PM today in front of Cloud Gate (you know, the Bean). Bring your boyfriend, girlfriend, husband or wife and PUCKER UP! Check the site for full details.
Head on up to Edgewater and take in some shopping, great deals and free trolley rides during 'Third Saturdays' From 10AM-6PM go shopping on historic Bryn Mawr Ave, sidewalk sales on Broadway and entertainment. Check the site for full details. There's some great antique stores up there!
Get to the Music Box for an evening full of fun. At 8PM catch a special screening of "Throw Down Your Heart" with a special performane by Béla Fleck, tix are $20 in advance. Then at Midnight catch the burlesque show of all burlesque shows with Michelle L'amour and her Chicago Startlets bare as much as they dare in this new show Belles Whistles Old Tyme Strip Show. Tix are $15 in advance
SUNDAY, AUGUST 16
The biggest gay Celeb evah, Madonna, turns 51 today. Celebrate with Madonna themed cocktails and 5 screens filled with her image at Kit Kat Lounge & Supper Club - 3700 N Halsted. 5:30PM to close you'll get an overload on Madonna!
