YOU’VE GOT A BUSY WEEKEND

Summer is just barely starting! Hope that you had a great Holiday last weekend and took in all that the city had to offer. This week plans even more exciting events including a premier of "Bat Boy: The Musical" in Oak Brook, the Gay Gaymers meeting at Gutheries and a handful of street festivals. Get out there and have some fun!

THURSDAY, MAY 28

Asian and Friend Chicago will hold their monthly gathering "Gaysia" at Wild Pug 4880 N Broadway , starting at 8PM Check out these pictures from last month, looks like they had a fun time.

Stop by Lincoln Square (Lincoln & Leland) for the 10th Annual Maifest Chicago. It runs through Sunday, don't miss the crowning of the May Queen and the Traditional Keg Tapping on Friday night.

Stop by Roscoes for the Wild Card Night of the 7th Annual Windy City Gay Idol. Compete for a chance to win more than $5000 in prizes. Signup starts at 9, contest starts at 10.

The Art Institute is now open late on Thursdays and Fridays until 9PM with free admission after 5PM. Stop by and pay a visit to the new Modern Wing.

FRIDAY, MAY 29

Take a tour of Uptown, Andersonville and Lincoln Square from 10AM-1PM today. You will get an insight into the neighborhood like you never would just driving around the neighborhood.. Don't worry if you miss today, there's one every month through the summer.

The 5th Annual Queer Prom will take place at the National Museum of Mexican Art in Pilsen. Organized by youth and volunteers from Homofrecuecina and Radio Arte Training Program presents this years theme: “Amor sin Fronteras” - Love without Borders. Tickets are $25 and RSVPs can be made online.

Head on over to the Gerber/Hart Library - 1127 W Granville for Cinema Lesbian this evening starting at 7:30PM

Stop by for this years Around the Coyote where you'll have a chance to see some of the best of Chicago's emerging visual and performing artists. Everything from film, actors, performance artists, painters and printmakers will be there to showcase their talents. Runs through the weekend, check the site for full details. While you're in the neighborhood make sure you stop by Do Division which also runs through the weekend.

Holy Crap! Liza and Judy are together again, bet you'd never see that again during your lifetime did ya? Well you can head over to the Portage Theater - 4050 N Milwaukee Ave at 8PM and catch their live show "Liza & Judy Together Again: A bit of Broadway Cabaret". RECESSION BUSTER : The off-Broadway sensation 'Bat Boy: The Musical' is opening at the Village Players Theater in Oak Park tonight. It features my friend Tracy Tyler and will run through June 28th. Tickets are $28 but this weekend you can catch a preview for only $15 for a limited run through June 28th. Purchase tickets online.

SATURDAY, MAY 30

OUTsource II: The Executive and Professional Career Transition Services @ Center on Halsted

Gerber/Hart Library is hosting a Summer Wine Tasting event at KAFKA Wine Co - 3325 N Halsted starting at 4PM. Tickets are $25 and benefit Gerber/Hart, come on out and find your new summer wine. Purchase tickets online.

Belmont Sheffield Music Fest takes over Sheffield from Belmont to School today for their 27th Annual Fest. The event runs through Sunday, check the site for a full list of events

Sidetrack is hosting Windy City Gay Idol semi-finals today. Signup starts at 2PM and the contestants start singing at 4PM. Compete for more than $5000 in prizes.

The Center on Halsted is holding their Annual LGBTQI Prom 'Glitz & Glamour' for youths age 13-21 from 6-9:30PM. Tickets are $5, check the site for full details.

SUNDAY, MAY 31

Head on over to The Spot - 4437 N Broadway for Scooty & JoJo's Diva Brunch. This week they're showcasing Lady Vera Parker, Cabaret Diva Meredith Freyre and Calidonia Olivares. Two seatings at 11AM and 1PM, $35 includes choice of entree and unlimited belinis/mimosas...yum yum.

The Gay Gaymers are meeting at Guthrie's Tavern - 1300 W Addison at 5PM. Stop by to meet some hot boys and girls who just happen to get into board games!

Legally Blonde The Musical is playing through next week at the Oriental Theater, if you loved the movie you'll love this stage adaption. It's quick, it's funny and there's a hot UPS Guy! Tickets start at $32

The Cartoons of John T McCutcheon gallery opens at the Chicago Cultural Center. McCutcheon was editorial cartoonist from 1889-1946 and used his position to make make important social commentary on the time at hand. Admission is free and runs through August 2
