While writing a recent travel story in Miami, I came across Sushi by Bou in the iconic Versace Mansion in South Beach. This is the same group that is now bringing Sushi Boutique to Chicago and changing the game in the process. Located in the Claridge House, 1244 N. Dearborn Pkway, Sushi Boutique is poised to be a big success. This brand new restaurant is the sister to Sushi Suite in Hotel Lincoln and has assembled a team that is ready to expand the brand and family with this new venue.

Restaurants attached to hotels can sometimes face challenges such as visibility, difficult tourists or overall perception. Luckily, this place is easy to spot, should attract locals and has a clean, high-end concept. Executive chef Jordan Dominguez has created some unique dishes that patrons won't soon forget!

Start off with the pork buns. I repeat, start off with the pork buns. It's a steamed bao bun that is treated like a taco, stuffed with pork and pickled radish. The bougie tartar also hit the spot with wagyu beef, uni, caviar and truffles. It ain't cheap at $50, but if you are feeling bougie, why not live it up?

Wash it down with one of the handcrafted cocktails on the menu. The drinks are a little complicated, so have your server guide you. The Inari makes an excellent choice with Haku Vodka, melon and lime with a side of sparkling sake. Look for unique flavors all across the cocktail menu with rum, tequila and gin options.

Some of the maki rolls are named after local areas like Lake Shore Drive and Gold Coast Sa. The Chicago maki was quite tasty with a combination of A5 wagyu, Kinpira Gobo [braised burdock root and carrot] and shishito peppers.

The chef will even produce an omakase box with seasonal fish for diners, including a Chef's Kiss option with 15 courses for $250.

For dessert, a variety of mochis completed the meal without overwhelming our already satisfied stomachs.

The staff was attentive and knowledgeable, even though Sushi Boutique had only been open a few days before this review. The plating, presentation and service were all top-notch.

There's still a chance to enjoy the patio in front, so book a reservation today at thesushiboutique.com or text them at 312-818-1156. Hours of operation are from 5 p.m -11 p.m. Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays with an extra hour later for Fridays and Saturdays.

Take a dive into the Gold Coast area with Sushi Boutique and be prepared for an excellent experience!
