The Flying Nunn flew over to the City of Angels to discover that Los Angeles makes a good getaway from Chicago. Not only does the climate have a lot offer, but there is much to do outdoors to accompany that weather, like taking a Walk in Our Shoes tour with The Lavender Effect who share LGBT stories from the past.

Four new hotels are expected to open before the end of year in LA including the Soho Warehouse, The Hoxton, LA, The Wayfarer DTLA and the Downtown L.A. Proper Hotel. I stayed at the Hotel Indigo Downtown. I found it very gay friendly and the views were incredible.

For museums try new exhibitions at the One Gallery West Hollywood for LGBT art or Through a Different Lens: Stanley Kubrick Photographs at Skirball Cultural Center.

The Hollywood Museum houses many costumes and memorabilia collected over the years. Take a stroll through the historic Max Factor Building on Highland Avenue. Keep posted on fun and educational events throughout the year at the venue with The HollywoodMuseum.com.

The cuisine in California continues to grow with new dining options like the Angler at Beverly Center and V DTLA. Grand Central Market truly has something for everyone. There are more than 50 food vendors from around the world in one place.

If you like some history with your meal, there's no other like the Black Cat on Sunset Blvd. Two years before Stonewall, LGBT protestors stood up to police harassment at this site. Besides that, they also make a mean burger!

The L'Antica Pizzeria da Michele is a fairly new spot and is the first U.S. location of the restaurant featured in the film Eat Pray Love. The whole place feels authentic, from the staff to the pizza.

If you are looking to be in the scene, have dinner at Pump and feel like a Bravo Housewife. The servers are attentive and easy on the eyes, just like on the hit reality show.

Right outside of Pump is the popular Abbey to experience some nightlife or Uber over to Akbar where things are more casual.

For nighttime entertainment the Rockwell Table & Stage has a multitude of cabaret performers and an upcoing Edward Scissorhands musical. Check out the schedule at Rockwell-LA.com.
