Universal Studios Hollywood is a theme park located in the San Fernando Valley in California. It is split into two levels and can easily be navigated in a day after purchasing the express pass that allows riders to skip the line on each ride one time. There is even a VIP experience that includes lunch, backlot areas and an escort to help visitors along.

This year there are currently nine rides, seven shows and plenty of places to eat and shop.

Begin your adventure by hitting the new Jurassic Word-The Ride which really captures the essence of the movie. Handlers bring out the velociraptor Blue in the area beside the ride to meet people. This immersive area will make dinosaur diehards feel like they have stepped back in time.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is another popular area that takes longtime fans into another world. Flight of the Hippogriff is mainly for younger fans, but Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, located inside the castle, is a must try where broomstick riders will feel like they are flying. Be sure and wait to eat a meal afterwards at the Simpsons area when your stomach settles down.

The Studio Tour takes at least an hour of the day, so plan your day accordingly. Tram vehicles take crowds behind the curtain to see sets of Jaws and the Bates Hotel in Psycho, among many others.

Revenge of the Mummy was thrilling, but over too fast and The Walking Dead walking attraction wasn't scary enough, but more rides are planned for next year, so stay tuned.

Interacting with characters such as Shrek and the Transformers will make anyone feel like a kid again and the actors spout clever banter.

End your day with a later show of Waterworld: A Live Sea War Spectacular. Although, the movie Waterworld didn't make a big splash at the box office, this expereince is worth the wait. The storyline follows various characters battling it out and use fire, water and finishes with a breathtaking plane crash. The actors who perform the stunts are cast from major television shows and will meet fans afterwards. The first five rows may splash spectators so bring a raincoat!

There is truly something for everyone at Universal Studios Hollywod and it's easily accessible with public transportation. An Uber ride from the airport was reasonably priced and this park promises to make it worth the trip.
