Upon a recent visit to the Banyan Tree Hotel and Resort Mayakoba in Mexico I found the spa the place to be.
The Banyan Tree is a luxury hotel that is a true escape from the rest of the world. The impeccable service arrives when the guest does at the front of the property and carries over to ever aspect of the experience.
Something that was immediately unique was The Rainforest treatment in the spa of the hotel.
The adventure begins with a rain walk across stones with water pouring down from spouts above. Our guide Wawa led our group to each section and gave us hot towels, water bottles, and cremes for our bodies. Don't forget your swimsuit as it is a wet ride. Steam chambers to summer storms are all included. There was in infared sauna that bathed us invisibly.
An ice filled fountain froze my blood then it was jump started with a warm shower.
The shower would alternate between being cold and hot periodically. The vitality pool not only had large jets of water to spray on us but high temperature hot tubs to relax in.
A massage to relax afterwards was much needed at this point. The masseurs are certified from an academy in the art of Asian therapy.
A couples massage is also offered if one is not alone on this exotic exursion.
This hydrotherapy experience with leave some lasting memories of the spa and Wawa for a long time.
