Whiskey Week wound up in Chicago in March 2016.
Longman & Eagle in Logan's Square hosted an amazing event with Maker's Mark Greg Davis, who is the master distiler for the brand.
The laid back venue was the perfect match to a spirit that hits all the right notes. Delicious food such as the octopus and boudin noir salad and the seared salmon were all paired with a variety of Kentucky infused drinks including one called the Hustler made with Maker's, pineapple, and cinnamon. This hot spot deserves the attention it has earned over the years with top notch service and high quality cuisine.
Untitled at 111 W. Kinzie St. held an American Whiskey Affair with booth after booth offering tastings of whiskey and bourbons on March 17. This was quite a change of the outside antics of amatuers celebrating St. Patrick's Day.
The upscale event had attendees learning about the process of aging the spirits in barrels. Builleit rye rocked people's world being the new kid on the block. The presentation and knowledge from the staff was a real highlight.
This was the 4th year to try over 75 whiskeys so make plans for next year!
J.P. Wiser's is the fastest growing North American Whiskey coming from Canada these days. After sampling a bottle, the finish and aroma were smooth on the nose and taste buds. Who doesn't love to mix whiskey and ginger beer? Throw a little lime in it to add to the cocktail. Another suggested recipe is to mix Wiser's with orange juice and cream soda. Easy and something different to add to pair with a meal or cookout this summer.
