Tequila in general comes from a specific region and is made from the blue agave plant.

Wansas Tequila is from Jalisco, Mexico that comes from 100% Blue Weber agave.

The pyramid bottle pays tribute to the pyramids of Mexico and makes a unique look to the product.

Presented in three options there is the double distilled silver, the reposado that is rested in white oak barrels for a minimum of six months, and the anejo, which is also aged in those barrels although for a longer period of 18 months.

The flavors are very distinct and they are meant to be sipped since they slide down easy but can also be mixed in a cocktail.

At a recent tasting at the lively Nacional 27 these three tequilas were paired with delicious cuisine. The blanco kicked things off with spicy shrimp cocktail, the entrees of salmon or Cuban pork were paired with the reposado. The anejo finished us off with dessert, a flourless chocolate cake.

These tequilas are slowly creeping into more outlets in Chicago such as Giordano's and Zapatista so be on the look out for them.

Wansas is where it's at!
