Not to make with the hyperbole, but this is seriously the best week in geekdom ever! Well, if not, this week is definitely setting the bar very high for the rest of the year. The thing that's on most gay geeks minds today is the release of Young Avengers volume 2, featuring my personal favorite gay comic couple Wiccan and Hulkling. While I personally loved the team dynamic of the original run by Allan Heinberg and Jim Cheung, this second volume promises to deliver some major awesome.
"The original Young Avengers is about being sixteen," said volume 2 writer Kieron Gillen at the 2012 New York Comic Con Avengers Panel. "My Young Avengers is about being eighteen, trying to be a hero yourself. It's about the ideal of the Avengers and about changing the world because you have to!" And while it took the final issue of Heinberg's run to get our boys Billy and Teddy to finally kiss on panel, our favorite super-powered fanboys will be locking lips in the first issue of Gillen's run.
If that weren't enough, this Friday sees the launch of NYC-based LGBT org Geeks OUT first Chicago event at Spin Nightclub, hosted by yours truly with some of my amazing/spectacular/uncanny friends, including AV Club's Oliver Sava. I just wrapped an interview with one of Geeks OUT board members Patrick Yacco which will be posted tomorrow. For more info on the event, click here.
Also, the return of Mohawk Storm. Alright, on to the issues:
